ARBITRATION COURT.
PILLING THE VACANCY. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) DUNEDIN, November 30. Mr J. T. Paul, whose name has been mentioned in connexion with vacancy on the Arbitration Court, states that he has received requests Auckland, and Wellington unionists to accept nomination, bub he has not yet decided whether to comply with tho request or not. He will visit Wellington next week to confer with representative Labour leaders. At a meeting of the Christchurch Gasworks Union on Tuesday night, it was decided to nominate i>ir C. Renn as a candidate for the position of workers' representative on the Court of Arbitration. The nomination was made in response to a circular letter from the Canterbury Trades Council, which asked that the nomination should be forwarded to the secretary of the Auckland Industrial Council. That body intends taking a vote on the preferential voting system of members of unions in the Dominion with the' view of reducing the number of nominations to be forwarded to the Department of Labour as soon as the resignation of Mr J. AMcCullo'ugh takes effect. The Christchurch branches of the Amalgamated -Engineering Union have nominated Mr J. T. Paul, Dunedin (subject to acceptance), as workers' representative, and Messrs T. Bloodworth, Auckland, and C. Renn, Christchurch, as deputyworkers' representatives.
