AXABOA. Tha Akamft County Council met it D» vauchelle tin Saturday. Present—Cr«. J. it. Tb acker (chairman), R. Hay, X. BUmaii, and B. A. Pcttigrew. A deputation from the memorial Society waited on the Council in raapaot to tha maintenance of tho memorial (pounda in Akaroa.—The Council unanimously agreed to contribute £2O towards the expenses ol tha first year. Tho Banks Peninsula Power Board wrota asking for permission to ereot, maintain, and use electrical lines within tha County'# district.—Grantc.l. The Health Department wrota in raapect to the destruction of rats and also U» grants by local bodies for hospital or general health ewviccs.—Hcceived, the Council U3» dertiiiing to pay 3d per hoad for rata. It Wll3 agreed to support the proteat of the Manawatu County Council against tha ever increasing cost of the hospital lariea and the system of assessing: the quota on tha land alone and' not on income. For the purpose of the Oiinwe road loanf it was decided to strike special rates of 1-lM and l-19d in the £ respectively and one <i 1-144 in the £ for the Robinsons Bay wharf l° an - - . ... Mr Stewart reported fiiat in company with Mr Bruce and the foreman ho had inspeotea the awkward corner on the Main road by the slaughterhouse, near Akaroa. Ho recommended the taking off of two corner* a littla higher up, the work to ba Uone altar tha 'lakamatua bridge was finished. The x«port was approved. , The linauco report showed:—Receipts *ll accounts for payment £'1037 6s 2d, overdrof B.N.Z. £2976 18s 2d.
