ATHLETICS.
Y.M.C.A. CLUB. A very successful alhletio meeting was held at Lancaster Park last evening, •under the auspices of the I.M.C.A. Athletic Club. The weather was beautifully fane, and there was a fairly large number of spectators. Four events were set down for dccision. but owing to a lack of entries, only two were run off. Results: 880 yds Handicap Schoolboys' Bace—J. Merrit (Sumner) 1, \V. Merrit (Sumner) 2. Time, 2min' 18 1-Sth bee. Won by five yards. 440yda Handicap—C. C4oodman (17yds) 1, G. Maxwell (35yds) 2, W. A. Ford (16rd») 8. Time, ilsec. A very good race. Taylor (scr) ran exceedingly well, but could notget out from among a bunch of runners. Won by three yards.
