The School of Engineering second year exhibition was awarded to Mr J. Brodie by the Canterbury College Board of Governors yesterday, on the recommendation of Professor R. J. Scott. Lieutenant O. H. Hoskin, late conductor of the 13th Regimental Band and Kaiapoi Brass Band, has been appointed conductor of the Ist Canterbury Regimental Band.

The vacant position of postmaster at Winton has been filled by the promotion of Mr G. E. H. Davis, of the Telegraph Department, Ohristchuroh. Mr W. H. Sawyer, of the Telegraph Department, Auckland, has been appointed postmaster at Bluff.

At the Ohristehurch. Hospital yesterday, the working staff presented Mr A. Rogers, who is leaving the Board's employ after thirteen years' service, with a silver watch, in lecognition of his many qualities and kindly consideration for others.

A London message says the Mayor of Swansea, presiding at a gathering of 1500 townspeople, presented th© Rev, Harrington Lees, Archbishop-elect of Melbourne, with gifts from the town valued at £3OO, including a cheque to purchase his official robes. A Wellington Pres3 Association telegram states: Among those who are about to be retired on superannuation is Captain Post, who haß been in command of the Government steamer Tutanekai since the death of Captain Fairchild many years ago. He was formerly in command of the Hinemoa. Captain Post is considered one of the most experienced and reliable skippers in Australasian waters. Dr. J. C. Bradshaw, organist at Ohristehurch Cathedral, intends to leave on an extended tour early next year, and ho has been granted a year's leave of absence by the Cathedral Chapter. Miss L. Black has been appointed as the organist during ihis absence, and the Rev. H. B. Jones, Precentor of the Cathedral, will conduct the choir. Dr Bradshaw was reappointed Lecturer ftT Music at Canterbury Collego for the session 1922 bv the Board of Governors yesterday. he was r also granted one year's leave of absence from January Ist, 1922, on full salary. Tho Rev. Hubert Jones, Mus.D., was appointed locum tenens for Dr. Bradstiaw.
