AUSTRALIAN INDUSTRIAL COURTS.

AN IMPORTANT PROPOSAL. (By Cable—PreM Association—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) MELBOURNE, November 7. The Prime Minister, Mr W. M. Hughes, has announced that the Premiers' Conference decided to establish a combined court of Commonwealth and State judges to determine the basic wage apd working hours, and to act as a court of appeal, from the Federal and State courts, boards and tribunals. The proposal will not be operative until the various States pass legislation surrendering to the Commonwealth their powers to make laws respecting industrial arbitration. The combined court will prevent unfair competition between the States, but the court will have no jurisdiction over the employees of a State or State functions. SYDNEY, November 6. It is understood that the Board of Trade will probably be abolished in consequence of the industrial arbitration agreement arrived at by the Premiers' Conference.
