A Press Association message from Carterton says that George Clarke, the jockey, and two other passengers arrived: I on the racecourse at 10 a.m. per aeroplane from Wellington. The journey occupied 45 minutes. Practically all of tte yearlings that are to be disposed of by Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd., at their Chester street stables to-morrow have arrived, and anyone desiring to do so can go to the stables and insnert them. The sale is timed to start at 9 a.m. Nominations for the South Canterbury Jockey Club's Spring Meeting close at 8 "p.m. to-morrow. For tho convenience" of owners and trainers who are at oresent. in Christchurc-h, Mr H. H. Fraser will he in attendance at the Canterbury Jockey Club's office from ( j a.m. to-morrow. A. McDonald had been associated with Ore Ore in his previous successes over jumos, but It. Thomrson wa9 given the* motint on Saturday. However, the luck of the game stood to McDor.ald. and ho was on Maniahera, the winner. Radiant Light met with a mishap nrior to the meeting, nnd her display in tho Spring Plate showed that she was short of work. She is a good-class filly, Jiowcvpv. and a stake should soon come her way. Progeny of Martian occupied a r>romin<?nt place in the decision of tho New Zealand Cup, first, second, and fourth places going to descendants of that sire. Absurd has a great record as a sire of successful two-year-olds. The first four in the Welcome Stakes on Saturday were got by Mr G. M. Currie's stallion. Solfarello's time, Imiu Usee, in the Stewards' Handicap, is the fastest that has yet been registered in that event. His performance in winning with Ost 31b ranks as one of the best weightcarrying feats in the history of the race, as only once previously has the winner had a bigger weight. This was Arrow-smith, who won last year with 9st 131b. At the Bathurst Meeting on October 22nd, the principal handicap event was won by Sir Liddoff, by Sir Laddo— Wepener, who is therefore a brother to Sir Solo. . V.R.C. SPRING MEETING.
