SOUTH MARLBOROUGH PROGRESS LEAGUE.

KAIKOTJRA, November 5. ■ The monthly, meeting of the South Marlborough Progress League was held yesterday, Mr £. Harle (vice-presi-dent) presiding over a good attendance. A letter was received from Mr J. B. Milsom in reference to the resolution recently passed by the League, the writer taking exception to the League's censuring him on newspaper reports. The letter was discussed, and the following motion was carried:—"That the letter be acknowledged, and that Mr Milsom be informed that the League has nothing to retract from its previous resolution the resolution being justifiable, and demanding all possible publicity in repudiation of the statements made by Mr Milsom." In reply to the League's request for the Canterbury League's support for the bridging of Cribb creek, the Canterbury League stated that the question would be dealt with at the first meeting of the League. The Minister of Education, in reply to the League's letter requesting that the bridging and deviation, work at Charwell be proceeded with, stated that he would bring the matter under the notice of the Minister of Public Works. The district traffic manager of rail.ways. in reply to a request for insulated trucks 'for the conveyance of fish from Parnassus to Chrißtchurch, stated that correspondence had been received from the Kailcoura Fishermen's Association on the subject, but as no further letter' had been received from the latter bo.dy. it appeared that the arrangements made" were satisfactory. It was Btated at the meeting that an insulated waggon had been provided. Mr G. W. Forbes, M.P., notified that he had brought the League's requests concerning the Charwell deviation and the completing of the Whara-nui-Parnassus railway under the notice of the Minister of Public Works, who had replied that he would be pleased to have enquiries made into the matter, and would communicate with the League later regarding the decision arrived at. , The question of Stony creek was discussed, it. being .stated, that the swollen state of the creek in heavy rain prevented traffic south, which held up the transport of fwh and rream. It was decided to write to the Minister of Public Works on the subject, asking that a T.ermnnent ford be constructed. The rabbit nuisance was again referred to. and-the matter in la be brought under the notice of the Stock Department. A vote of thanks was accorded to the sub-committee for the capable manner in which it had drawn up nile 3 for the League, which rules were adopted.
