At the Bangkok Criminal .Courts Nai Nuum, a jeweller, has been sentenced to "15 years' imprisonment for shooting Nai Chun, a rich merchant, for being a cossip. "It was more merciful to lull him," the prisoner said, "than to follow the ancient law and pull out his tongue. Indeed, I gave a feast to my friends, including Nai Chun, and before ending his life I gave him opium to smoke. A few minutes before I sn<>: him Nai Chun told me he heard singinir and saw girls dancing in his opium dreams. His end was merciful. My conscience is clear. All gossips should tie killed." It appeared tuat S& Chun had gossiped about a present of jade which the jeweller had made to an actress. .....
