AMERICAN EX-SERVICE MEN.

SPEECHES BY POOH AND PERSHING. (By Cable—Frees Association—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) "WASHINGTON, November 1. The Convention of the American Legion of ex-Servicemen in Kansas City gave Marshal Foch a thrilling reception. In the course of a speech Marshal Foch said: "The greatest honour of my .life was leading the American Army along the road to victory in 1918. More than 25,000 of your brothers are buried; in France. Your French brothers-io-arma will watch over them, and give glory to you who survive them." General Pershing declared: "The hope of the future lies in the coming Washington Conference. The nations have become impoverished by enormous IOS 3of life, and material wealth. The problems must be courageously faced. A wise solution demands the same loyalty and paitriotism, and imposes the same that brought about victory in the war."
