R«=hardson (Auckland) were appointed water polo e The Tours Committee reported that steps had been taken with a view to securing a visit to the Dominion by an overseas swimmer or swimmers. To this end centres naa been circularised for an expression of opinion as between W. Harris, of Honolulu and F. E. Beaurepaire, of Australia. A largo majority had favoured Beaurepaire ana accordingly guarantees had been called tor to enable the visit to be made. The guaranty had been set at £2O per appearance, a minimum of fifteen appearances to bo guaranteed before an invitation be. extended to the Australian Union. The following centres only had definitely guaranteed: Otago 2, Wellington ,1, Westland 1, South Canterbury 1, Manawatu 1, South Auckland 2. lwo centres, Auckland and Canterbury, in refusing a guarantee had suggested that appearance should bo made and profits divided in the -proportion of 50 per cent, with the council. This suggestion the committee declined to entertain. The committee following the precedent set by tho council on July 11th, in refusing an application by the Canterbury Centre to arrange visits of overseas swimmers, deolined an application of the Auckland Centre. In view of the absence of the necessary guarantees, tne committee' had decided to take no further steps with respect to arranging a visit. * NEW BRIGHTON SUEF CLUB. The eleventh annual meeting of the New Brighton Surf Bathing and Life-Saving Club was held last night, Mr a T. Moseley presiding'. Before the business of the meeting was proceeded with the chairman unveied a •memorial brass tablet to the late Mr J. F. Cooks, and the meeting adjourned- for a •brief period as a mark of re3pect. The report and balance-sheet, particulars of which have already been published, were adopted. The chairman congratulated the crab upon ite very excellent elwwinjg, and ventured' the opinion that the success of the cVub was due to the enthusiasm, of its officers. He had rit pleasure in congratulating 1 Messrs A. Muuna amd A. P. Hopkins upon their unanimous elation as life members of the chub. The eleotion of officers resulted! as follow*: —Patron, Mr H. On the motion of Mir Frank Collins, it waa decided that the dv!i> join tSte Sports Club Association. • . ' It was agreed that the Christclraroh. City, Council and the Waimairi County Council be approached; for assistance, and that a let-, ter be sent to the membor for <3ie district, Mr D. Qv Sullivan', asking for Lis support. The chairman made appreciative reference to the work done by tie retiring captain, Mr L. Matson, and thanked him on behalf of tho club for his splendid Borv'cee.
It was akreedto send a team to take 1 pact in the*' Nelson Shield Competition at Wellington. During the course of the evening gold medals suitably engraved, were presented to C. F. Crosbie, a special award! for life-saving 1920-21, to the most proficient juniors 192021, E. A. Owles, and H. S. Beaumont. Mr A. W. Owles promised! to give a cup to the club valued Sit £lO 10a.
