LAWN TENNIS.
KAIAPOI CLUB. The annual meeting of the Kaijpoi ToCTiia Club v.-ca held on Thursday cveaui?, Afr R. Malcolm presiding over a, very largo attendance. The aunual report stated that Lire clu'j had a membership of 96, which would 1)6 considerably increased during the coming season. During the winter a. new court ha:l been laid down, and improvements made to the grounds, including the erection of a pavilion. The club had been fairly Hiiccessful in matches, and a series of handicap tournaments had been played, the winiwrs being —Ladies' Doubles, lilies rearca and Busby; Combined Doubles, Mias Gibson arr.l Hennett; Men's Doubles, Malcolm &M Harmon; Men's Singles, IV. H. Xeeves. The lady members were congratulated on tlwnianncr in "which they hud arranged the eene3 of winter socials. Tho report, with. the. balance-sheet, sliowiirf; >i credit balr.uco of £49 13 7d, were adopted. The following officers were elected'.—Patron. Mr D. Jones, M.P.; president, Mrs A. Malcolm: vicecn.ptain, Miss Busby; lion, secretary, Mr A. Hirst; lieu, treasurer, Mies P. Pi»rc«; committer Moffianua L. B. Evans, S. Baker, Misses D. Stanton, JF. Goldthorpe, X. Purdie, Messrs Corcoran, G. March, G Hirst, D. Inni3, W. B. Scott, and G. W'vlia: delegate to Lawn Tennis Association, Mr K. Malcolm: delegates to Kniapoi Park Committee, Messrs L. C. B. Fuldseth and R. Havman;/ auditor, W. Hart;' match committee, Mesdamea S. Baker, S. J> Richards, Messrs G. Hirst, and D. Innis. Thirty now members were elected. The committee was aßkedito take into consideration the question of providing competitions for A and B players. The official opening day was fted for October 20th, when it ie proposed to havo various stalls to raise fundß for tho pavilion and other improvements.
