_——« CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. The Management Committee of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association met I*B* » ven " ing, Mr W. N. Seay presiding:. The United Bowling, Tennis, and Croquet Club wrote granting the Association tho use of the club's courts for the New Zealand Championships, to be held in December next, providing the Association bears any extra expense. The offer was accepted. ( Information was received that the quarterly meeting of the Council ot the New Zealand Assooiatwn would, be held in Wellington on Au | ufl * 31st. One notice of motion was to the effect that Hastings should be the permanent, centre in the North Island for the New Zealand Championships, and that a a"?"" permanent centre should be appointed in the South Island, the championships to oe held alternately in each place. The Auckland Association wrote protesting against the proposal to establish permanent championship centres, pointing out ,, lß r: students of tennis in other centres would be prevented from enjoying the b-nefits derived from witnessing the championships, and tn" ill-feelin? was likely to be caused It was decided that the Canterbury Association's delegates should be instructed to endeavour to secure postponement of any discussion of the proposal un»il a Council meeting after the New Year; and failing that,, the delegates be instructed to oppose the proposal. \ . .. , .
