SCOW ASHORE.
MISHAP AT WELLINGTON HEADS. (PEISS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, March 26.
While beating up the harbour to-day, tho auxiliary scow Magic, bound from North Cape to Wellington witih' a cargo of stone and some wool,' went ashore on Inconstant Point, inside Wellington Heads. A northerly gale Mas blowing at the .time, and a very heavy sea was running tfftiside. • , . The crew —Mcintosh (master), Morris (engineer), Barker. Carmichael, Brett, ana Balcomb (cook)—ianued safely at Pencarrow in the ship's boat. The vessel is owned by the Hansford Mills Construction Company, of 'Wellington. Portions of the deefc and some wool havo been washed ashore. There is a quantity of water in the vessel'. , March 27. When the crew got ashore below Pencarrow, tihey were looked after by "ho lighthouse men, and. are now little tho WPrse for their experience. The, vessel missed stays, and as she could not pake headway against the heavy gale she went on tihe jocks. Today she was being badly pounded. The. pale has subsided. The wind did not change to southerly, as anticipated; had it done so, the little vessel would have been smashed to kindling wood, If the weather remains favourable, there is a probability of tho vessel being hauled off.
