AN EMPIRE TRIBUTE. «. The following circular-letter from Lord Gladstone, dated, St. James, Cleveland square, December 6th, 1920, was read at the meeting of the Christchurch. Tramway Board yesterday, and .was deferred for further consideration: "As a personal tribute from the wholo Empire to the Prince of "Wales on the completion of his historic mission overseas,' a fund of £250,000 is being raised. This tribute, the Prince of Wale's has agreed, shall be devoted to the extension of the important, general hospital in London, which bears his name, and where at the present time two out of every three applicants for beds are being turned away. The Prince of Wales Empire Tribute provides an opportunity of showing in r .'Tactical manner, how genuine is our devotion to the heir to the Throne, who has shown himself to be not only a. PrintJe gifted with every national endowment for the great position to which he has been born, but also a man of rich human sympathies, a good friend, and a good sportsman, possessing all the finest "and most typical qualities of British manhood at its best. Mar I ask you for your generous help in making the Prince of Wales' Empire Tribute a pronounced success?"
