OBITUARY.

Mr S. Columb, who died at Dunedin on Saturday, was a native of Dunedin, and was educated at the Christian Brothers' School. On leaving school he joined the staff of the A.M.P. Society, and it the time of his death he occu" pied "he position of district manager at Palmerston North. He was long associated with the Cadet and Territorial movement in Wellington, and in 1916 he joined the Seventeenth Reinforcements and proceeded to France as O.C. of the Pakeha's draft. After Serving continuously till the end of the war, he . returned to New Zealand in May, 1919. He was promoted to the rank of major after the last battle fought bv his battalion in Franca.
