OXPOED. At a meeting of the Ashley Gorge Domain Board there were present Messrs H. F, Henderson t chairman), E. W. Meyer, H. P. Lours, T. Powell, D. ITawke, A. Baxtor, and J. McGrath. The Oxford Benevolent and Improvement League sent a donation of £3O to heta to pay for the erection of the bathing eheds at the Domain. It was decided to send tho League a letter of thanks. KAN»iOEA. On leaving tho employ of Mr E. B. P. Brown to start in business on his own account, Mr O. J. Keir was presented with a Doulton bowl. BUENHAM. A very cueoessful social gathering was j held in the schoolroom on Friday, for \ tho purpose of bidding farewell and i making a presentation to Mr and Mi's Johnston! who have transferred to Aylesbury. The first part of tho evening was given up to progressive ©nehre. Songs were contributed by Messrs Hooper, Wilson, liannan, and "White, Mr" Fnel gave a recitation, and Mr Wilson an exhibition of sleig!ht-of-hand. Mr Brears presented Mr Johnston with a coso of pipes, and a travelling rng for Mrs Johnston. A dance followed, to excellent music supplied by Messrs Hepburn and Davidson, extras being played by Mr Wilson. Mr Friel was M.C. G-ERAIDIHE. It will be of interest to many in the GeraJdine district to know that Lieuten-ant-Commander Colin Sinclair Thomson was in command' of the destroyer Ver-d-un, which conveyed from France the body of the unknown warrior recently, interred in Westminster Abbey. Lieuten-ant-Commander _ Sinclair Thomson is the eldest surviving son of Mr and Mrs J. Sinclair Thomson, of "Tho Crossing,'' Geraldine, and was in charge of a destroyer all through the. war, and shico then was for some time on duty in the Baltic. Ho joined the Xavy after passing the naval entrance examination in/ New Zealand about 20 years ago. /
