PERIOD OP PAtMSKT EXTBKDBD. (rsxss association xtLzoaaH.) WELLINGTON, February 4. The New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association recently made representations to the Minister of Lands (the Hon. 1). H. Guthrie) pointing out that as many returned soldier farmers had decided to hold their wool clips, instead of selling at the ruling prices, the majority of them would not he in a position to meet their half-yearly loan instalments now due, and asking for an extension of the period for securing the J per cent, rebate (to those who can prove they are holding their wool) for three or six months. The Minister has now informed tho secretary of the Association that the Commissioner of Crown i.ands has been instructed that payment of rent and instalments on loans 'may, upon application, be postponed for a period of six months as from January Ist, without intc-rcst being charged on the amounts so postponed. Cnon rent and instalments being paid promptly on a forward date, the usual rebate will be allowed. "Applications for postponement." the Minister added, "must be .submitted to the Land Board for consideration, and its retrommendatioas will receive my sympathetic consideration.'' The i iter cent, rebate is made on!v on the interest portion of the halfyearly instalment, and not upon the principal part.
