AN ALIEN'S LICENSE.
(PRESS association telegram.) WELLINGTON, February 8. During the enquiry into the death of Harry Magnusson, who was found drowned, Jin official bf the Seamen s Union stated, that the deceased had been refused an alien license to work on a vessel for which he had been engaged, and had been very dejected since. The police said that the statement opened up a black page in deceased's history, which theyhad wished to avoid. In disclosing it it would be necessary to call evidence as to why the licens'e had been refused. Cabinet had fully investigated the matter, and had endorsed the refusal of the license owing to the rrtan's previous conduct. The inquiry was adjourned until ' tomorrow to enable ' evidence to be called.
