TAWERA. At the meeting 1 of' tlio Tawera County Ccuncil held on -Tuesday there wero present— Cm. McAlpine (chairman), Atkinson, Mil lax, J. Milliken, E. Millikea, and Watson. The following resolution was passed:— "That the Council express' ite appreciation of th* action of the Canterbury Progress League ia inviting the Minister of Publio Works to visit 'this district, and in organising the Minister's tour through the, county. It also tbank9 the League for ite assistance in eecurintr the Government subsidy for the Kowai bridge." Owing to the marked increase in the number of stray oattle on the roads, it was decided- to secure the services of a ranger. The clerk waa instructed to takG the necessary steps fox miikmg the Council a registering body for motor vehicles.
