ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
MEETING OF COUNCIL. The monthly meeting of tho coiincil o£ the ftorth Canterbury Acclimatisation Society was held last night. Present—Messrs It. H. Godby (chairman), E. M. Caffin, L. A. Shrand, F. W.. 'Woodward, H. Anderson, J. Sutherland, B. J. Lavory, W. T. Billons, J. F. Pc-ake. W. Deans, F. Sloorhouse, and Dr. C. M. Anderson. Tho finance statement showed that there was a credit talanco of £231 8s 3d. Angling licenses for the month totalled £55 ios, and deer licenses end deposits £38 Iβ. Tho Department of Internal Affairs invited recommendations from the council in regard to tho \92l shooting , , erason, on tho following points: The kinds of irnportod g'ame which may bo taken or killed' cUiring the open ssasoii; kinds of native gumo to be. killed. It was resolved lo recommend that, in tho next shooting reason, May Ist to July 31st, , C'a-lifornian qufi.il should b°. protected, and also pukeko, hi amendment .by ilr F. It was lesolved to a«k for an open reason for grey duck, Epocnbill, paradise duck, aiid black swan, but the council would not recommend that any apecics of imported or native game ehoiild be allowed to he sold. ■* . . , Tho -curator reported that the last of the brown fry (5C00) had bee i tcken to tho Olioka creek, and u. can of shrimps had boen brought from the Ashlsy, and tlicso wero placed in tho nace reserved for th.it purpo&s. Four young Canadian geecjo had DOeii hatched. .;, It was decided t-o make further enquiries into the matter of obtaining a supply «f Atla.ntic oahunn eggs.
