BRINGING OUT SETTLERS.

PRIVATE SCHEME STARTED. "With tho endorsemeufc of tho Auckland and. Wellington Chambers of Commerce, and the financial backing of business firms in Auckland and elsewihero, a. privato organisation has been formed to bring suitable settlers irom tho United Kingdom to New Zealand. Organising tho scheme is Mr H. B. Jlrownriggy of tho Emigration Films (N.Z.), Ltd., a private concern formed to make films to be shown in England in connexion with the scheme. Air Brownrigg, who has lived in all of toio Dominions of tho.Empire, states that tho cost of securing the immigrants will bo defrayed bv the firms here -wlip avo supporting him. Not only artisans and workers will be induced to come, but. also persons wit'll capital, farmers, and small investors. According to Mr Brownr'igg these will bo looked after from the time they leave tho .United Kingdom until they are actually settled here, either in employment or in a chosen occupation. "New Zealand is simply crying for increased population," says Mr Urownrigg. '' What our organisation proposes to do - is to send mo to England in a few months' time to engage in a lecture iour tihore, sho'.v films we have taken of'the industrial side of New Zealand, get .in touch -with intending emigrants, and then, by means of our ageuts which •wo aro appointing in New Zealandj liavo the settlers provided with employment immediately they arrive, as well as looking after tihem in other ways also. We liavo a defmito understanding with tho firms who are behind us in the scheme to give all these men employment for an .indefinite period. You will see that our scheme, unlike the Government's, which bears heavi]y on the taxpayer, who has to pay for the assisted immigrant, costs tho country nothing. Those: firms who arc suffering* from lack of labour wiil simply reimburse us for our services in securing it for them."
