The following horses arrived from tho North bv the Maori yesterday: Croesus, Rational, Princess Pat. Prince Harold, and Overrate.
The Victoria Racing Club's Spring Meeting will bo brought to a conclusion to-day at Flemington. Tho woigiit-for-age event on to-day's cord is the C. B. Fisher Plato, in which Poitrol, Eurvtihmic, SaHtros. and Erasmus are engaged. Owners -who appreciate the good stakes given by the clubs nowadays ought to make a point of getting their horses early to the birdcage. Much money is shut out owing to the brevity of the time between the last horses going on to tho course and tho closing of tho machine. • Tho Auckland Racing Club's Spring Meeting which opens to-dav_ at Ellerslie,' will provide some very interesting racing. - There are sixteen engaged in the Mitclielson _ Handicap, _ including such proved pertr-mors as Volo, Uncle Ned, "Some Boy 11.. Gold Kip. Demagogue, and Royal Abbey. The "Welcome Stakes' field includes somo very highlybred youngsters. Messrs Pyne, Gould, Guinness. Ltd., will hold their annual salo of, yearlings at Messrs V. Hayward and Co.'s stables, Chester street, on Tuesday and Thursday next, ci»minencing at 9.30 a.m. sham on cach day. Silverlode was scratched for the Trinl Hurdles at 10.30 a.m. to-day, and Gatherer for tho same event at 11 a-ni. Income was withdrawn irom all engagements at 12.35 p.m. today. EICCARTON TRAINING NOTES. There was not a great deal of fast work at Riccarton yesterday. Most trainee gave their charges strong work with a view to a sprint this morning. Surveyor, carrying a light-weight, and brought home by Truthful, galloped five furlongs in lmin 2sec. The first furlongs took 13sec. He fiinshod well. Mermin dashed over three furlongs in 35 l-sth sec. Radial, who looks & shado on tho big side, ran half a mi'e in 50sec. All Rqpdy covered five furlongs in lmin 4 3-sth sec. Kilrush and Winter Wind were not worked. TROTTING NOTES. Tho Addingtoa track was in good order yesterday, but very few horses put in an appearance. . . Sherwood proved too good for Tns Pointer over a mile and a quarter. The latter a effort was disappointing. liocanda Dillon and Greta leit o> mils dg* hind in 2min 16sec. Tho first-named put plenty of dash into his effort, and should race well at the meeting. Theseus made no mistakes while trotting two miles in 6min. Several other horses were on tna track, but only did s'.ow exorcise. Pansy has foaled a filly to Great Audubon, and visits Harold Dillon. Overrate arrives from Hawera to-day to fulfil his' engagements at Addington nest week. . . „ , Willie Lincoln will b-> given his final workout at New Brighton to-day. A. Hendricksen .will bo in the sulky. ' J. Bryce has a largo team engaged on the opening dav at Addington, including Xavier, Idvis, Matchlight, Erin's Queen, Moneymaker, Duke Whips, Maoriland, Man-o'-war, Chid, Whisht.
