DOMINION COUNCIL. | ANNUAL MEETING. (SPECIAL TO "TfTE PRESS.") WELLINGTON. September 22. At the annual meeting of the Dominion Bowling Council to-day Itr S. H. Underwood waa appointed secretary for the ensuing year. Mr T. Bush, in returning thanks for his election aA president, said that the Council, 1 as a whoJc, had bacn wisely eelocted. He looked upon it as the strongest during their career. There would bo a good deal of important business to transact. The question of constitution and rules wou'd_ require the attention of the incoming committee. There was a prospect of Rcttinjr teams o>ver from Australia, not only to participate in the tournament, but aleo to tour Now Zealand. He- was quite sure that trie hospitality ex tecdcH to them th rouehout the Dominica would be at least in the same measure as that extended to N?\v Zealanders who hnd toured Australia. Th.? visitors would probably be under tho auspices of tho A-9socia-tion. "We have reached that etajre," he eaid, "that some alterations in our pr<xrramrn& should be brought Tho whole Association has become so cumbersome, eo largo and out of hand, that we vnii have to curtail it in mora wh.y> than one." He instansed the provision of luncheons on tlie ■"-round of the centre at which the tournament was held, this Wine a heavy burden on any centre's shoulders. The Association had previously decidcd that the tournament should gn round the four centres, each centre drawing up the programme. It wn« a Question for tli« Council to di'cid* whether tho proI gramme should be stnndnrisrd. A propesai was made by Mr J. A. Nash I that an invitation be '■r. l t« the South Wnlce Bowl ins; Association to visit New Zealand, and to participate in the annual tournament, ar.d the ?-:crotary wae in =t mc ted -to forward a .'otter to New South Wak-s in t-rm; of tho motion, also pointing out that the banner for the winning foam at the tonrnev could not leavo New Zealand, but all other trophies won couid lw taken away. The banner, if won by an Australian t«m, weald gt> to tho next rink in order. j Considerable dismission took p!ace on the fixir.fr of the date for the annua! tournament, I and a proposal to alter tho number of games I to bo placed cacti day in tho rink matches. Mr ileadowcroft ?aid that tho rink game was paramount, and it was the wish of tho ■Wellington Centre to havo, this year, at least four to four and a half day*' play • f rink matches to start on tho Monday. They really wanted to centre on tho rink play. H.c moved that the tournament play should oommemco with rinks. The motion was carried. On tho motion of Mr Meadowcroft, it was then unanimously decided that tb? tourney commence 011 January 30th. 51 r Nash, in urging that the final phould be plaved on the president's afternoon, susrfjestod" that tho u.ma! North Island-South Island fixture should be discontinued. He had always looked upon this a.3 a fiasco. It •was a war-to of time. Tho conterenco agreed that if passible the 6u<rgeetion would be adopted. A further proposal from Mr Meadowcroft was that two games of twenty-five heads each bo played per day. This was mado with a viow to preventing disoomfort to many o£ ihe bowlers. Mr Nash, supporting the motion, eaid that tlw proposal would bo in the interests of the older players, ivho were entitled to that little consideration*

Tho motion was carried. It was also decided that after section play, four diys of links, the qualifying teams should revert to three frames par day on the

"two lives' system. A proposal regarding the uso of two bowit* instead of four in the doubles was nued out of order. • It was ncfreed that the doubles championship should be played on the came lines as i;i Christ church last year, and that the single® should bo played on the lives system in sections of three. Mr Nash moved: "That m the singles championship no eubbstitutes b» allowed, and that any player not in attendance shall forfeit his game." The motion was carried. . It was also agreed that no substitute th© ■rinks or pairs should be allowed to skip and a clauso to that "effect is to bo inserted in tho

tournament programme. . Tho entry fees for the tourncument are to be tho same as at Chris tchurch last January. The executive for tho tournament will be tha president, vice-president, flocret&ry, and surer, with Messrs F. Meadowcroffc Gray. ~ An annual levy of -1-1 per member (of ail club® affiliated to the Association) was struck. It decided to accent the invitation or the International Bowling 1 Board to send i team of bowler? Home.
