ANNUAL MEETING. The annua! meeting of subscriber 5 to the Afhburton County Av'ar Relief Fund was he d yesterday aitem-cn, Mr K. Galb'.v.ith presiding. A special committee was appointed to receive applications from periuuiiently disabled ine: l . and the list, comprising 00 lianies. was finally dea.t with, and recommendations made to the Executive' Committee, and ptyinir.ts had been made acc.'rding to classiticf.tion. Cases were sti.l coming in, and the estimated expenditure would bo about A'ICUK'O. Cces of reciir' - iii<j i.ln.ss were constantly arising, necessitating the granting of re lie i. «ind such cases would crop up.ior some years io come. Donations would still oe required to meet expenditure, and it was gratifying to note that the donations for last year amounted to £7SU 10? M. Although the Repatriation Board had taken much work [rem the Relief Committee, in many cases the assistance given by the Board still left tiie soldier in need of assistance. These cases had been fu!'y considered, and in almost every ease where loans had been made, they were being steadily repaid according to agreement. The committee wished to tender its thanks to Mr J. AY. Bowden, tr.e honorary auditor, and to all others who had helped to make the past year so very helpful to those who were in need of assistance. The balance-sheet showed that the assets exceeded liabilities by 1 ;vl. Tho Mayor (Mr R. Galbr.iithl, who presided. in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, said they had been ab'.e to find 60 men who bad lost- limbs, or were physically unfit. Payments of £!0D end £"?0 each respectively had been made to these men. All additional cases would be attended to. Tlicro were only four cases of dr>elicts. and for these the had been placed in. the Post Ofilcc Savings Bank to the soldiers' credit, r.niii such times as the committee thought thev had made good.
