THE PAPER SHORTAGE.

ECONOMY IN GOVESNMENT PUBLICATIONS. (PRESS ASSOCIATION* TKIiF.GR AM.') WELLINGTON, June 1. In consequence of the paper shortage, the Minister of Internal Affairs has embarked on an economy campaign, and for the present he is investigating ihe possibilities of saving paper in publications and stationery. An effort -will bo made to induce the Government Departments to cut down consjimption of paper, and some saving will be mnde in the Government publications—at least until the price of paper drops a food doal, and supplies arc more assured.

Unless there should prove to be any lecal bar to n change in forms, the "Gpy-ette" will be brought out in much smaller issues, moro after the stylo adopted in other countries.

Another reason for reduction of the publications is the pressure in the Government printing office.
