Owing to the inclement weather, no work was dona on tho waterfront om Saturday after 11 a.m. The Otaki. for Sydney, and tho Niehmaha, for Port Chalmers, are now timed to sail this afternoon. Tho Monow-ai ©ailed early on Saturday afternoon for Dnnedin. Sho is due back here on. Thursday, and will sail on FViday for Auckland, via East Coast ports. The Paloona, from Melbourne via Dunedin and Bluff, is due here on Wednesday, and is timed to leave on Friday for Wellington, en route for Melbourne. She has 900 tons of carjro for discharge at Lyttelton. Tho Manuka, due at Wellington to-morrow •night from Sydney, will not come to Lytteltou this trip, and lier local ( cargo will be transhipped at Wellington. The British India steamer Woodara, at present loading mutton at Timaru, is due here about tho end of this week to complete loading. Tho Woodara is under charter to the New Zealand Shipping Company. The Gallic is. at present loading at Waitara, and will next proceed to Wanganui, and finally to Lytleltoa to complete her Homeward loading.

The Paparoa, at present discharging 1 at Auckland, will later visit Wellington, Lytteltoa, and Port Chalmers.

The i\ and S. liner Leitrim loft Liverpool on May 22nd . with cargo for tho four New Zealand ports. Sho is due at Auckland early in July.

I'lr Harry Somes, who has been twentyfive years in the service- of the Union St-eam Ship Company, has retired. On Friday evening the company's psrmanont wharf staff in Wellington entertained him, and presented him, through Mr John Currie, the head foreman, with a case of pipes and a tobacco pouch. The Huddart-Parkcr st?amer RiverJna is due to arrive at Auckland to-morrow moriving from Sydney. The vccsel, in addition tc a large number of passengers, has on board 1300 tons of cargo. She will subsequently call at Gisborae, Napier, WeHjng'ton, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, returning via those ports to Auckland.
