FIRES.
« SEVEN SHOPS DESTROYED. (By Cable—Props Association—Copyright.) (Australian and K.Z. Cubic Association.) (Received May «30th, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, CUay 30. A fire at Weewaa destroyed Sponcer and Collett's general store and six other shops. Tho damage is estimated at £10,000. The Fire Brigade received a telephone message at 5.20 p.m. on Saturday to tho pavilion in the Richmond Domain, where a fire in a small portion of the flooring, caused by a bag of lime becoming wet, was extinguished. At 5.33 tho Brigade again turned out, this time t-o the Reliance furniture factory, 177 Wordsworth street, Sydenham. The building is a y ll " 0 ®: storeyed wood and iron one, owned and occupied by Mr James Scott. The first floor and contents were badly damaged by fire and water, and the machinery and contents on the prounu floor were damaged by water. No insurances are available.
