NATIONAL WAR MEMORIAL.
» (VRES9 ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON. April 19. Sir James Allen states that the National War Memorials Committee has' decided that tho site which is to be in Wellington must bo selected before designs are invited. A sub-committee | has oeen appointed to report in twentyone days on tho sites offering,' and the one which it suggests. Four battlefield memorials are to be erected, two in France and two in Belgium—at the Somme, Messines, Ypres, and Le Quesnoy; also one at Gallipoli and one in Palestine. The sites have been chosen in France and Belgium, but the committee is not satisfied with the position in the Somme field, and Sir James Allen is to get it altered, when he goes Home. The site preferred is between Delville Wood and High Wood, overlooking Flers. All these memorials will be of a uniform design, A special committee, consisting of the Hon. J. G. Coates, General Russell, General Chapter, and General Riehardson, Mr T. . Scddon, M.P., and the president of the R.S.A., will invite designs. 1
