*- APPLAUDED BY LONDON PRESS. (Bv Coble—Press Association —Copyright.) (Australian and K".Z. Cable Association.) (Received April 18th, 11 p.m.) LONDON, April 17. Tho newspapers applaud Lord Jellicoe's appointment as Governor-General of New Zealand. ME MASSEY PLEASED. "It is quite certain," said the Prime Minister (tho Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey) to a reporter at Wellington on Saturday, when asked for his opinion of the appointment of Lord Jellicoe as Gover-nor-General of New Zealand, "both Lord and Ladv Jellicoe will get on well with the peoplo of New Zealand, who have already shown them evidences of their regard. As far as the appointment of Lord Jellicoe is concerned, I consider it a compliment to New Zealand ; it is certain to be_ very popular. At the same time lie will fittingly represent the Sovereign and the Imperial authorities. I myself am very pleased at the appointment. In addition to meeting Viscount Jellicoe during the visit to New Zealand, I saw much of him on very many occasions during the War Cabinet sittings in England, and I am able to appreciate what his stay in New Zealand will mean to this country." The time of Viscount Jellicoe's arrival in New Zealand is not yet known.
