Tho Washington correspondent of tho "rsc>w York Times" snys that it is expected that Viscount Grey, Ambassador to the United States, will shortly retire and return to England. It is understood that lie had accepted Iho Ambassadorship temporarily in order to settle matters outstanding between tho United Stales and England! arising from the war; but owing to President Wilson's illness. Viscount Grey will probably leave Washington "without reaching a settlement. [After tho return oarlv this year of Lord Reading, who had been acting as Minister Extraordinary for Great Britain in tho United States, the post of Ambassador to Washington remained unfilled until the arriral in September of Viscount Grey. |
