Hon. £ir .Robert Laird Borden, G.C.M.G., P.C., K.C., Premier of CJanuda since 1911, was barn in 1854. Ho studied law nnd was called to the Bnr in IS7B. ITo had an oxtonsivo i practico in tho Supremo Court of Nora Scotia and in the Supreme Court of | Canada. Ho was member of Parliament for Citv nt!'l Oeuntv nf T*n'ifax 1896-1900 and member for Carleton 1905. In ltXkJ l:o was re-elected for tho former constituency. In 1901 he ivas electcd lender of the Conservative Party, and upon tho defeat of the < Lnurior administration in 1911, ho be- I name Premier of Canada. Ho n ttendcd 1 n meeting nf tho British Cabinet on July 11th, 1915, being tho first oversea Minister to receive such a summons. He was ronrrsentativo of Canada in tho Imperial War Cabinet 1917-18 and at the Peace Conference.]
