The South Island Main Trunk Railway League resolved that an expression of regret at the absence of the direct representation of Canterbury on the occasion of the recent deputation to the Prime, Minister andi the Minister of Public Works at Wellington be forwarded to tho Christchurch Chamber of Commerce, and also that the attention of the Chamber be drawn to the resolution of the Auckland Railways League providing for the asking of Parliamentary candidates whether they would be prepared to block all railway extension expenditure in- the' South Island until the mileage in the North Island had been brought up to that in the South.
