RAXAIA CLUB. The annual mooting of tho Rakaia Bowling Club wna held in the Liorary on Friday evening. Mr J. Sodden presided ovor a vory good attendance of members. Tho annual report stated thai, tho sor.son bad been a successful ono in several waye. The membership had increased from 10 to 48. and •the credit balance from £31 to £C 3. The percentage of playing members lied risen, and this w&a a eotirco of strength to the club. Mainly owing to the effort} of llr D. Newman a of chib' competitions had been successfully carried out, and had stimulated interest in the game. The provision of a caretaker for the bowline: green, tennis courts, and croquet lawns hud proved a good idea, and had relieved tho' club of all anxiety aa regards the care of tho green. Tho history of tiw en'orts to have a pavilion built waa outlined, and showed that a considerable sun: for tho purpose waa now available and it was hoped J o soon have tho building an accomDlislicd fact. The thanks of the club were due to tlie car-owners for the use of their cars, to tho ladies for th'ir provision of uftemoon tea, and to tho following lor donations of prizes: —Messrs T. Blackley, C. Ross, E. Fox. J. Penny, H. West, D. Newman, and H. Haydock. The top-dtessing had evidently pro-red successful, and the club was indebted to tho Ashbnrton Club for the eerviccs of their caretaker to supervise tho work. It. was suggested that a social function for the presentation of prizes be held annually, and that for tho opening day t-lv.s year a progressive bowling tournament bo held. •Several members congratulated tho club on the sound poeition revealed by the report, which, with the balanco-sheet,- waa then adopted. Accounts for £15 10a, -the cost of foiling and splitting i 3 cords of firewood,' were passed for paymont. A letter was received from Mr 7. Lill, secretary of tho Ellesmero Bowling Association, urging affiliation with that body. It was agreed to fall in with th* suggestion, and Mr E. Fox was appointed delogate. The following colours were adopted, subject to approval by the Centre, dark bluo jacket with white shield, having tho monogram E.B.C. in red lettering. A set of rules was also adopted, anjl these aro to bo printed. " •• The resignation of the secretary, Mr C. E. Featborstono, waa received with regret, and a resolution passed expressing 'appreciation of hia service®. s Mr J. Penny, who had been'appointed by the Tennis and Croqnot Club to. represent them, outlined a scheme for tho financing of tho Pavilion Building Fund to provide for the estimated deficiency of about £130. Tho proposals met with the approval of •'he meeting, and it was unanimously resolved to proceed with the erection at "onco. The building will bo 86ft by .12ft, with three rooms, and having a concrete verandah Soft by Bft in the front. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr J. Stubbs for his offer of carting.

Tho following' new members were elcctcd: —Messrs James, G. S. xxardy, V. C. McPhail, li. Cordncr, H. West, \f. Watte, W. Palmer, and S. Holmes. Mr H. West was acoorded a vote of thanks for his offcx to provide for the beautifying of the grounds. The following players offered to provide a guinea each 'towards the prize funds;— Messrs B. MfcNamara, J. Penny, E. Fox, J. Po-"1«n, W. E.. Judkino, H. West and J. Stubbs. ■ Tha following 1 . officers were elected:— Patron, tho Hon. C. A. C. Hardy, M.L.C.; president, Mr T. West; treasurer, Mr J. Penny; match committee, Messrs D. Newman and C. E. Fcathowtone; grounds and pavilion committee, Messrs J. Sowden, J. Penny, and B. McMamara. Mrs Sowden, president of the '.Tennis and Croquet Club, was also included in the pavilion committoe. Social committee, the. general oommittee of the club. Mr D.
