A "BRIDGE OF REMEMBRANCE."
TO THE EDITOR OF 'TH* raSSS." Sir, —In your issuo of tho 24th a correspondent suggests building a "Bridge of Remembrance" in stone over the river in Cashel street. It seeniß to mo an excellent and timely idea. Tho present structure will have to be rebuilt very soon, and nothing could be more appropriate than an arched bridge (tho first of its kind in Christrhurch) to tho memory of our dear lads. "We who are fortunate enough to have seen the arched bridges in the old world realise what added charm and beautv they give to a town. Lately we have liad numerous suggestions and ideas regarding town-plan- j ning, but nothing concrete or_ definite i has been done. This idea, coming now, j seems to lead the wav, and I trust ere long to see ''The Bridge of Remembrance" on the suggested site. Might I suggest to our worthy Mayor his con- ■ sideration of tho schemo of "L.M.1.." ho boing tho most livo member of the i community.—Yours, etc., } "LEST WE FORGET."
