Tho death is announoed of Sir Edrrl VI Holdea. chairman of the London City and Midland Bank, Ltd. Mr Robert Kemp, who died at Auckland on Tuesday, arrived in tho ship. Gtmges in 1803. Doceascd was a n old! soldier, who had served in tho Crimea. Mr Richard Huff am, who died at his residence in Oriental feav Wcllihgton, «n Siturdav, after a pamful illness, was born'at Yeovil, Someisct, 62 years ago, and when a lad went to Crnves, in the Isle of Wight, tho great yachting centre of the British Empire, in 18(58 he lei t London in the barque Fanny, which camo out to Ndscn. After 1 jme there for some yoars, ho settled in Wellington 25 years ago, and for the past eighteen years had been a resident of Oriental W He carried on a boat-building! fciwi'ness in Wellington for a considerable time. He has left a widow, three sons (Messrs Meyrik, Kenneth, nml Randall Huffam), and two young daughters. An old colonist and veteran of tho Maori war. Major Andrew Burns, d cd at the Mater Hospital, Auckland on , Saturday, at the age of 81. Jiums arrived in New Zealand by tne ship Mermaid in 1850. He went througa tho Maori war as a lieutenant of the •Third Waikato Regiment, and tc afterwards captain of tho Hobson Rifles, reccivin.cc appointment- ns major of tho New Zealand Forces in 1866. He waa for 30 years manager and sscrotary to tho Jhinedin Hospital Board. Tho death is reported from Rockville of Mr Duncan Kerr. The deceased (says tho Nelson "Colonist") was a native of Hamilton, near Glasgow, and cam© to New Zealand a few years ago. For some time he followed the occupation of a miner at Puponga and Marble Creek coal-mines, latterly taking up farming pursuits at Rockville. His son, LanceCorporal Colin Kerr, -was summoned from Christchnrch, where he was undergoing medical treatment for wounds received at tho front. Another son, Privato John Kerr, who enlisted very early in the war from Glasgow with a Scottish regiment (the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders) made the supremo sacrifice at the battle of the Sommo in 1916. Two daughters. Mesdamcs Ballantyne and "Wilson, are both residents of the Takaka district.
