(Before Mr S. E. McCarthy, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS.

A male first offender was convicted of drunkenness and fined ss, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. Another first offender was emanded for .a week, and a third, who had been under mcdical treatment, was convicted ur.d discharged ar.d crderad to pay medical expenses 17s 6d, ia default seven days' imprisonment. Edward S. Brown, who pleaded guilty to charges of drunkenness and procuring liquor while prohibited, was remanded lo see if orrangoments could be made for hio reception at Koto Roa. John Anderson ar.d Join Walsh pleaded guilty to charges of drunkenness, and were each fined £1. in default seven days' imprisonment. Eva Orell pleaded guilty procuring liquor while prohibited. Accused was convicted and ordered to come up fer sentence when called upon. VIOLATING A SANCTUARY. Claude Thian pleaded guilty to killingnative game in a sanctuary, Hart's Creek. Mr Ju. J. Grcsion, who appeared for (he- Acclimatisation Society, said the case in which accused was concerned was connected with charges he aid by the Court three weeks ago, but on that occasion accused had not been. served with ha summons. A fine of £2 and cc3ts was impoaed. MAINTENANCE. Andrew James Mason's order for tho maintenance of his wifo was increased to £2 a week. ALLEGED THEFT. Wm. H. Forsyth (Mr Sargent) pleaded not guilty to a chargc that, on May 3rd last, h« aid steal an overcoat valued at £10, the property of H. S. S. Kyle. The occurrencs *va« alleged to have taken place at the New Brighton rat-os. After hearing the evidence, accused was committed for trial, bail being allowed, self in £20 and two sureties o£ £10 each. THEFT. Wm. Downcs appeared on remand charged with, the theft, on May 18th, 1918, of a rug valued at £5. the property of Wm. Hookham. Mr Johnston appeared for accused. At the last hearing of the caaa his Worship pointed out that ho had no jurisdiction, owing to the fact that the alleged offence was committed over 12 months ago, and that the case would have to go to the Supreme Coirrt. At the Supreme Court criminal session, there were five sexual charges on the calendar, three being against one Maori, and two against another Native.
