AUSTRALIAN AND NEW ZEALAND SOLDIERS.
TO THE XDITOR OF "TH3 WWSS." Sir, —A document issued by the Now Zealand Defence Department, and published in "The Press" this morning, explaining how much more liberal in our demobilisation schemes we are than tho Australian Government, would probably" be overshadowed by a similar pamphlet igsued by the Australian Defence Department setting out to prove how much more generous their schemes are than ours. The Australian soldier is much more liberally treated than we are. Their non-coms, were paid much more than ours. A privates pay was 6s a day, Is of which was deferred, to be paid on discharge, if conduct satisfactory. A shilling a day may not seem much, but in my case it amounts to £55, whereas our present proposition rt» gratuities gives mo £16, giving our Defence Department the rest of this alleged more liberal treatment in, ife would be a long way from out-balano-ing that.—Yours, etc., N.ZJR.B. June 11th.
