Amongst tho correspondence dealt with at the last meoting of the Borough Council wa« a request from Mr E. Bo wring, on behalf of the residents of Diamond Harbour, for cooperation in approaching the Lyttelton Harbour Board regarding the building of a, boat slip at the harbour. It was stated 'that & number of people, were contemplating the advisability of keeping email pleasure craft, and were prepared to pay towards the upkeep of A Blip, which would obviate the necessity of takiri# their boats ,on to the wharf. With the increasing popularity of the resort it was pointed out that the wharf would become too congested for' ordinary traffic -unlees better facilities were provided for taking ashore pleasure boats, making Diamond Harbour their rendezvous. A suggestion was mad» that the Council should pay interest on the capital cost of tho slip, and collect dues from boat owners to cover the amount thus expended. Tho Harbour Board, it waa e fated, had a considerable 'quantity of suitably material available for building a -©lip, and its coat should therefore be small. On the motion of Cr. J. H. Col- ■ lins. the Council decided to bring tho matter under the notice of the' Harbour Board.
