CHESS.
CANTERBURY v. WELLINGTON. The annual chess match by telegraph between the Canterbury and "Wellington Chess Clubs will be commenccd next Saturday, the local players conducting their games at the club room in the Chamber of Commerce Hall. There will be fourteen players a side. The Canterbury Club will be represented by tho following:—Messrs A. Severae, H. L. Andersen, H. Kennedy, W. S. King, T. Hawkins, F. Twyiord, R. Lovell-Smith, T. Woodford, W. H. Joyce, J. Gouilay, T. Bmton, Dirk Pihl, T. J. DaTwln, and E. L. Wilson. Emergencies, Messrs W. B. Buckhurst and F. D. R; Neville. The game at board No. 1 will be played, in Wellington, as Mr Severne, the local representative, will be visiting there at the time.
