Oeucr.il Alle'ity lin.s issued an ultimatum that Egyptian officials must rosume or be dismissed. Those returning will lose thoir pay for timo lost during the strike. Poisons obstructing Government work will be court-martialled. The Unitod States, in a note recognising the British protectorate over Egypt, expresses the sympathy of the President and people with the legitimate aspirations of llio Egyptians for a further measure of self-government, but views with regret tho efforts to obtain it violently.
