NUGGET POLISHES.
THE SUPER SHINE. "HAVE YOU ?"» There are famous advertisements ■which have gained for themselves a world-wide- renown, and of the goods which they concern it has sometimes been said that they have been "made, by advertising." It will almost invariably be found, however, that these advertisements are backed by solid worth, and that, as regards these giants of the commercial -world, distinction of goods and distinction of advertisement "o hand-in-hand. Certainly this is the case with the Nugget Polishes. "Have TOU ?" the reader sees, and sub-
consciously supplies tho remainder of trio sentence—'Nuggeted your boots this morning r' . The truth of the matter is that tho public is always eager for a good product, and, if told and reminded of its, existence, can be relied upon for a soiid demand. A fc-w words about tho famous Nugget Polish.es will be of very general interest. Nugget "Polish was tho first real 7ioot poli>h on tho market, and from its birth until now has been over enhancing its triumphant, position in tho Xjublie estimation. A branch of tho firm was instituted in Christchurch in
1003, and all Now Zealand now receives supplies mado iu tho Dominion — and is so eager for them that the business of tho branch has trebled during the last year or &o. Lob it not be imagined, however, that New Zealand boasts tho only branch office of the firm. In Brussels, New York, Halifax, Toronto, Capo Town, "Williamstown— right round tho -world n, chain of &uch branches exists. Tho London general offices present a long vista of desks, typewriters, ledgers, and industrious business people, and the factory is an extensive and remarkable building, massively constructed and splendidly lighted and heated. The -whole, thing, one is tempted to .say, i.s on a '"Nuggetarian" scale of thoroughness. On tho actual product it is unnecessary to dwell, for tho public does not need its j knowledge of it reinforced, nor its ear filled with the praises of it, which it is itself daily uttering. Space forbids but a cursory glanco afc the. efficient and numerous processes which contribute to the production of Nugget Polishes. Of tho ingredients, it suffices to say that only materials of the very best quality are selected, and that cost is but a secondary consideration. The latest ap- ] pliances ensure thorough mixing of the compound in laboratory and mixing room. The mixing pans having been, subjected to the action of steam for a certain time, and the contents having dissolved into a creamy consistency, tho cooling process supervenes. Next, the •polish is placed in tanks, which supply up-to-date filling machines, each of which places each hour into some 12,000 to 15,000 neat, strong tins the substance which imparts such a splendid shine. Next the tinfoil is oxpeditiously placed over the top of the polish, tbo lid pushed home, and a few moments later cardboard boxes are being handed out to carriers full of thesetins, to bo dispatched to all points of the compass. The bottled Nugget shares in tho speedy but careful production, some 1000 bottles being filled by each machine per hour. "But a description which would do justice to this superlative product would fill pages. Suffire to -say that in it the British public had a product of solid ■Hud gcr.uino worth.
