RED CROSS SOCIETY.

« MEETING OF WOMEN'S BRANCH. The women's branch of the Red" Cross Socicty met yesterday, Mrs Boyle presiding. The reports of the various departments v.-ere received and confirmed. The packing department (Mrs H. F. "Wigram) reported that since January 23rd, clothing valued at JCI3S9 2s 4d had been sent to the various local military hospitals. Of this £12-13 23 4d worth had been sent to the military ward of the Chrietchurch Hospital, £116 43 worth to Hanmer, and smaller amounts to the Consumption | Sanatorium and Coronation Hospital. In addition a quantity of razore, shaving I soap, etc., had been sent to the men. For the receiving department Mrs Vernon repotted the receipt of 2112 garments during January, and 5810 in February. Mrs C. J. Treleaven reported on behalf of the Comforts and Hospital Visiting Committees. There wero 114 men in tho orthopaedic ward, 8S at Hanmer, 3 nursing sisters, and 17 men in the sanatorium, and nine men at the Coronation Hospital. All had been supplied with comforts regularly, including cuke, fruit, cigarettes, etc. A gramophone, luid been given to the military ward of the Christchnrch Hospital, while a number of deck chairs had been sent to the sanatorium and Coronation Hospital. Gifts of fruit for jam-malting, vegetables, egs, and butter were especially requested by the comforts department. The report of the sales department stated that sales of goods in .February had realised £23-2 17s 9d, and sales of wool £32 2s 4d, a total of £2G5 0s Id.

The No. .2 General Hospital, Palais dos Repates, wrote acknowledging a case of clothing. The Brunner branch of the Red Cross Society wrote, enclosing £50 10s, which the brancli earmarked for the recreation room in the Y.M.C.A.

A letter was received from Major Shand on behalf of the O.C. Otago District, thanking the Society for its hospitality to returning- drafts of Otago men. Colonel Sefton Monrhouso forwarded an apps&l on behalf of Dr. Acland for stump eocks.

Colonel Wylie sent s list of articles reouired b?- tlie m«n in the orthopedic ward.
