ST. JOHN AMBULANCE.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The General Committee of tho Canterbury and West Coast Centre of tho Sj. John Ambulance Association met last night. Present: The president, Mr A. E. G. Rhodes (chairman), Hesdames A. E. G. Rhodes (vice-president), S. A. Watkins, .Miss Sproeea, Messrs C. J. Ronaldson, H. Thomas, H. L. Bowke'r, jun K. J. Hoddinott, and Captain TV. W. McKinney. The financial statemont showed the receipts, including Ambulance Day proceeds £368 9s 6d, :.jid £100 withdrawn from Post Office Savings Bank, to be £'722 12s lOd, and tho expenditure £107 13s lOd. Tliero was a credit balance of £619 15s 4d.

Captain _ McKinney reported with regard to the Epidemic Organising Committee that he had laid a scheme before the committee, and also that classes in elementary horce nursing had been formed in connexion ■with the depot committees. A special corps of instructors was being formed for the purpose of giving instructions. Theclasses would not encroach upon tho ambulance classes. " '

Captain McKutney's scheme was approved.

On the motion of the chairman vote* of thanks were passed to the workers and helpers in connexion with Ambulance Day, also to those who contributed to tho various stalls, the entertainers, and to the general public who contributed money so literally. It "as decided to send letters of thanks to all who assisted.

The secretary reported that arrangements had been made for the holding of a number ot" /lew classes, and Captain Mo Kicney stated that several new classes had. been started on the "West Coast, also a new eub-centre.

On the motion o£ Captain UcKinney, it was agrted to ask his Excellency the Gov-ernor-General, as president of the four centres, to call a conference of the centres to formulate a scheme for the education of the oublic regarding the necessity of a knowledge of first-aid and home-nursing.
