Private advice from Wanganui states that the condition of the Hon. Gilbert Carson, M.L.C., who has been seriously ill for several months ; is causing his friends considerable anxiety.

It is understood that a pormanont exchange of benefices has been arranged between the Rev. R. T. Matthews, vicar of Suva, Fiji, and the Rev. G. H. Morso, vicar of To Aroha*.

At yesterday's meeting of the Canterbury Education Board, the resignation was received of Mr Sharpe, commercial instructor at Greymouth Technical College. It was decided to send Mr Sharpe a letter thanking him for his past services.

Mr P. Davidson, president of the Chamber of Commerce, has received word that his son, Quarfermaster-Ser-geant A. G. Davidson who left with the first battalion of tne New Zealancr Rifle Brigade, is returning in the Athenic, which left England on the 4th inst.

Tho Bev. Canon Coates, of Christchurch, has been appointed to take charge of St. Aidan's Church, Ilemuera, Auckland, for two months, pending the selection of a permanent vicar. The Rev. Arthur Fowler, vicar of the church for some years, is resigning in consequence of ill-health.
