Norton, J.P.'s, presided at the Lyttefton Magistrate'* Court yesterday, when "William Donoghue and William' Johii Wilson, two seamen, were jointly charged with having committed a breach of the peace. Donoghue waa convicted and fined £2, in default, 14 days' imprisonment, and Wilsani wus fined jEL or seven dayß* imprisonment. James Richard Jarvra, a muub, appeared on a charge of deserting: from the'Ruahine on the 2nd instant,. at Lyttelton. He was sentenced' to one month's imprisonment, or until such time as the Rnahlje jras about to leave New Zealand, when The would be pieced on board. BOWLING. Buchanan, Preece, Sprosen, and McCarthy played for Linwood,. while Young, Garrard, Irwin, and Henderson represented Lyttelton. SCHOOL PICNIC. Over 200 children from the Heatheotw Public School, with their parents and teachers, arrived in Lyttelton yesterday at BJS e.m., and proceeded to Port Levy in the steam launch Pui-au, to spend the day.
