KAIAPOI. Tlio fortnightly meeting of the Kaiapoi -Borough Council was held last night. Prc-sent-The Major (Mr J. H. Blackwell), Crs. 5r . D , ottW «**y. J. Barnard. J. Bryden, A. Blake.er. il. Lhmn, L. Evans, and 11. ilcIctoah. Leave of absence •was granted the town C *®V C f ron *. December '21 st to January Srd. F. . Cottingham, borough engineer, -wrote stating that be had accepted a position with a freezing company, but would still be able to look after thg street- lights. Referred to tie Lighting Committee to report. The Public WotJcs Department forwarded two copies of an agreement for taking- over the reticulation of the Rangiora connty. On the- recommendation of the Lighting Committee, it was decided to sign tho agreement. The Finance Committee reported receipt £38 12g 4d; bsfci debit balance £20t 2a 2d. A motion, asking the Lighting Committee to grt an estimate of the cost of lighting the town clock and report at next meeting, •was carried. The Mayor's -report on the inflnenra epidemic . waa read and adopted. The Mayor and Crs. Bryden and Evans were authorised to spend up to £20 in connexion with, the influenza epidemic.
