PEACE CELEBRATIONS

to THE EDITOR OP "THE PRESS." Sir, —How many thousands throughout New Zealand will etiaorse "Bo Ready's" letter in the paper to-day. May wo indeed make Peace Day a day of national thankfulness and gratitude to our God, first and foremost, in every city and country side.—Yours, etc., , THANKFULNESS. November 7th. TO THB EDITOB O* "THE TRESS." Sir. —In order to give a little interest and excitement in the coming Peace celebrations, may I suggest tnat tHe Aviation Company at SocKburn fly their fleet of planes ovor the city during the celebrations, provided weather and other conditions are appropriate. And as a souvenir of the great victories achieved by tho Allied armies, leaflets bearing the news Of the surrender of Germany be dropped during the flight. This, I feel sure, would add great interest to the celebrations, and draw a greater crow'd of spectators than any other demonstration. —Yours, etc., W. J. CARLISLEI TO THE EDITOR OF "THE PRESS." Sir, —Events are coming one after another so rapidiy, that we iuay at any moment receive word of the end of this war,, and it is right that, we should do our best to celebrate the occasion in a befitting manner. As there is sure to be music In some form or other, might I suggest to those who are now working out schemes for the day that they will kindly think of the largo number of patients in tho public hospital, and arrange for a band, for at least one hour to plav some stirring patiiotic music in the hospital garden. lam sure it would bo much appreciated by tho inmates. "Music hath charms to soothe the 'weary' breast." I sincerely hope this suggestion will be favourably taken into consideration by those having charge of drawing up the form of celebration to be held.-

—Yours, etc., PATRIOT. |
