AUSTRIA'S SURRENDER.
RECEPTION OF THE ARMISTICE. A GERMAN VERSION. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) '"The Times.') (Received November 7th. 9.5 p.m.) AMSTERDAM, November 6. German papers give a dramatic version of tho reception of the armietice terms in Vienna. King Karl, after reading them, burst into tears, exclaiming: "I cannot sign that. Thelossoftho Tyrol is shame for cs. Wo cannot permit the Allies to cross our territory in order to attack G&rmany." The Emperor's adjutant suggested that Karl should delegate an Austrian FieldMarshal to sign. Marshal Ivoevess and three other members of tho Council refused. Finally, von Arz signed under protest, and only because Austria waa •unable to resist an hour longer. LONDON NEWSPAPER OPINION.
(Reuter's Telegrams.) LONDON, Novembor 6. The papers unanimously approve the terms f>f the Austrian armistice, which extinguishes any German illusion that Austria and Hungary will be a neutral barrier against tho Allies. It opens the door to the ideals of national liberty in Eastern Europe, while the disposition of the fleet is an object lesson for Germany of the treatment she may expect. It is hoped that the German people will draw conclusions and not needlessly prolong xho bloodshed in view of the inevitable end. WIDESPREAD 1 DISORDER. BERNE, Novomber 6. Convicts are breaking prison in Aus-tria-Hungary unhindered. A republic has boen proclaimed at Vorarlberg. in the Tyrol. A National Guard has been formed, but is powerless to restrain the hordes of returning troops, who are pillaging and tearing down the Imperial emblems.
