August Frederick "Witbrock (Mr Caeeidr), charged with the theft of £517 0s 2d from P. Graham and Son, was further remanded, for a week, bail being allowed in £250 and one surety of £250. ALLEGED lALSE PRETENCES. Arthur Pit rick McGuire, Janet Mary Mcr Guire, Cecil Charle* McCollongh, and Frederick John Worraald, charged with obtaining £194 43 from William John Cupples by falsely representing that they were endeavouring to obtairf the release of Miss Hines from an institution, were further remanded until Isovcmhor. 14 th. Bail allowed, Janet Mary MoGuire in her own recognisance in the sum of £50, while in the caso of cach of tho other accused bail was fixed at £100, with one surety of £100, or two sureties of £50 each. AFFILIATION. Arthur Yemtn (Mr Hunter) was adjudged the putative father of an illegitimate male child, and was ordered to pay 10a a week maintenance as from date of birth. He was | also ordered to deposit as security on appeal | £10 10s, confinement expenses £10 10a, past | maintenance £10 15a, and solicitor's costs £3 3s. DUJfEDIN SESSIONS. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TEUBQBAV.) DUNEDIN, November 6. At the resumption of tha Dunedin criminal sittings, Andrew Frederick Chapman was acquitted on a charge of indecent assault on three sisters, 14, 9, and 5 years of age respectively. Two brothers, Daniel Christopher Flanagan and John Francis Flanagan, were charged with .harbouring their brotbar, Edward Joseph Flanagan, he being a deserter from the Expeditionary Force. The jury, after ft little over half an hour's retirement, returned a verdiot of not guilty, and accused were liberated. The Moody attempted murder case will be taken to-morrow.
