—; —'•*— THE WOOL COMMANDEER. (PBKSS' ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) NAPIER, November 4. Mr. J. S. Jessop, chairman of the Wairos Farmers' Freezing Company, sent the following telegrams to the Minister of Agriculture to-day:— "Re extension of wool commandeer. I an: absolutely astounded at the Prim© Minis ter's statement. What further ossuranc* does he require to accept the Imperial Government's offer? Ninoty-nino per oent. oi tho wool-growers have agreed, and I am certain ' seventy-four per oent. think, the offej has been-, accepted. As you are aware, ttu opposition on the East Coast is practicallj confined to one man, whoa© action has beet repudiated throughout the length and breadth of his district. To settle ' the matter, 1 would suggest that tho Government ask aU wool-growers to reply through their broker; at orce whether they wiah fho commanded extended for twelve months' from the firal day of June following the close of the wat or not. A-definite answer from the actual owners of tho wool can thus be obtained within a few days." "Since first telegraphing you I have read a full report of the Prime Minister's siafco ment to the Farmers' Union delegates. The Fesmers' Union does hot represent one in ten of the farmtia, a.nd probably not five pei cent, of the wool-growers. If the Government do not iiimeditaely discover the real opinion of tho wool-growers, the responsibility of declining the Imperii! Government's offer must be at the Minister's door."
